Contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has become a routine diagnostic tool and has demonstrated its usefulness for the diagnosis of a host of gastroenterological and hepatological disorders.

Breast tomosynthesis, also referred to as three-dimendsional (3D) mammography, has been available for clinical use in numerous countries outside of the US since 2009. In February 2011, the FDA approved the Hologic Selenia Dimensions 3D (breast tomosynthesis) system, making it the first, and currently, the only commercially available breast tomosynthesis system in the US.

That means, neither general ultrasound nor color Doppler offers high sensitivity and specificity.
